PGMA Appoints New RDC Chair for Davao Region
Her Excellency, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, appoints Mr. Vicente T. Lao as new Chairperson of the Regional Development Council (RDC) XI for the term CY 2007-2010.
The appointment was announced yesterday by NEDA XI Regional Director and RDC XI Vice-Chairperson Nicasio Angelo J. Agustin upon receipt of the official statement from Malacañang.
Mr. Vicente T. Lao, or “Vic” as he is fondly called, is an entrepreneur and currently Chairperson of the Mindanao Business Council (MinBC). As Chair of the MinBc, Mr. Lao has been an active partner of the government. Notably, he has exerted tremendous effort in strengthening cooperation between the private and public sector institutions in furthering socio-economic development in Mindanao and in advocating for policy reforms for economic growth.
In his statement, Dir. Agustin is confident that Mr. Lao’s Chairmanship of RDC XI would further strengthen alliance among key socio-economic players in the private and public sectors.
Dir. Agustin noted that RDC XI has been under the leadership of the private sector for the last 20 years, particularly under industrialist, Atty. Jesus V. Ayala. He said that under the private-sector led RDC XI, the Davao Region remained one of the strongest regions in the country in terms of economic and social growth. With Mr. Lao now at the helm of the RDC XI, Dir. Agustin is positive that the momentum of growth will be sustained for the coming years.
