RDC 11 Chair Vicente Lao to represent Mindanao in the NEDA Board-Regional Development Committee
Chairman Vicente T. Lao of the Regional Development Council (RDC) XI is chosen as Mindanao representative to the NEDA Board-Regional Development Committee (RDCom) in a consensus among the Chairpersons of Mindanao RDCs and the Regional Planning Development Board of ARMM. Camiguin Governor Jurdin Jesus Romualdo was chosen as alternate Representative. This was bared by RDC XI Vice-Chair and NEDA XI Director Nicasio Angelo J. Agustin.
Director Agustin said that the RDCom is one of the committees of the NEDA Board created pursuant to Executive Order No. 257 issued on December 15, 2003. Its basic function is to formulate and monitor the implementation of policies that reduce regional growth disparities and promote equitable allocation of resources among regions.
The RDCom is chaired by the NEDA Director General and has the following members: Secretaries of DBM and DILG, three (3) RDC Chairs representing Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao and four (4) Regional Development Experts from the private sector and academe.
Lao’s tasks include the articulation of Mindanao’s concerns in the RDCom, harmonization of differences among various government agencies in Mindanao and coordination of efforts involving inter-regional concerns and development.
Lao, who is on his first term as RDC XI Chair, is Private Sector Representative to RDC XI. He is the Chairman of the Mindanao Business Council and concurrently serves as Country Director of the BIMP-EAGA Business Council. He is also an active member of the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. having served as Executive Vice President and currently a member of the Board of Trustee.
