RDC XI Endorses Conversion of the Nabunturan-Maragusan Road
The Regional Development Council (RDC) of Region XI endorsed the conversion of the Nabunturan-Maragusan Road in Compostela Valley into a national road during its 2nd Quarterly Regular Meeting recently at the Waterfront Insular Hotel, Davao City.
RDC XI Vice-Chair Nicasio Angelo J. Agustin, who presided the Council meeting, said that the road conversion was recommended by the Provincial Development Council of Compostela Valley to speed up the road’s improvement.
RDC XI Calls for More Private Sector Investments for Power Supply in Davao Region
The Regional Development Council (RDC) of Region XI is urging the private sector to invest in power supply generation in the region in the face of an expected rising power demand in the next 3 years. This call was made by RDC XI during its Second Quarterly Regular Meeting held July 8, 2008 at the Waterfront Insular Hotel, Davao City.
RDC XI Vice-Chair Nicasio Angelo J. Agustin said that the Council believes that investments coming from the private sector are needed even as government is embarking on major projects that would bring power supply from Northern Mindanao to the Davao Region.
RDC XI backs road project for agri-business development of Mindanao
NEDA XI Regional Director Nicasio Angelo J. Agustin, Chairperson of the Regional Project Monitoring Committee (RPMC), a special committee of the Regional Development Council (RDC) XI recently headed two composite teams for a two-day appreciation visit to the remaining section that will finally connect the Padada-Kiblawan-Columbio Road. The opening of the remaining section, together with the Improvement of the rest of the road, was endorsed by RDC XI during its first regular meeting this year to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo for a P 1 billion funding under her administration’s Agribusiness Super Region Strategy.
RDC XI pushes speedy completion of Kapalong-Talaingod-Bukidnon road
NEDA XI Regional Director Nicasio Angelo J. Agustin who also chairs the Regional Project Monitoring Committee (RPMC) of the Regional Development Council (RDC), headed a composite team of technical representatives of NEDA XI, DPWH XI and Provincial Engineering Office of Davao del Norte that inspected the Kapalong-Talaingod-Bukidnon Road project recently.
RDC XI Endorses 2009 Budget Proposals of NGAs and SUCs of Davao Region
The Regional Development Council (RDC) XI, the highest planning and policy coordinating body in Davao Region, endorsed the 2009 Budget Proposals of national government agencies (NGAs) and state universities and colleges (SUCs) of Davao Region during a special meeting last Thursday, May 22, 2008, at the Waterfront Insular Hotel, Davao City.
RDC XI Vice-Chairperson and NEDA XI Regional Director Nicasio Angelo J. Agustin disclosed that 11 NGAs and 5 SUCs that included the University of the Philippines-Mindanao presented their budget proposals for 2009 to RDC XI for the Council’s endorsement to the agencies’ central offices, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Central Office (for the SUCs), the UP System (for UP-Mindanao). These budget proposals will be subsequently endorsed to the Philippine Congress for consideration.
RDC 11 Chair Vicente Lao to represent Mindanao in the NEDA Board-Regional Development Committee
Chairman Vicente T. Lao of the Regional Development Council (RDC) XI is chosen as Mindanao representative to the NEDA Board-Regional Development Committee (RDCom) in a consensus among the Chairpersons of Mindanao RDCs and the Regional Planning Development Board of ARMM. Camiguin Governor Jurdin Jesus Romualdo was chosen as alternate Representative. This was bared by RDC XI Vice-Chair and NEDA XI Director Nicasio Angelo J. Agustin.
Director Agustin said that the RDCom is one of the committees of the NEDA Board created pursuant to Executive Order No. 257 issued on December 15, 2003. Its basic function is to formulate and monitor the implementation of policies that reduce regional growth disparities and promote equitable allocation of resources among regions.
RDC XI Executive Committee Endorses the 2009 AIP of Davao Region and Davao Food Terminal Complex
The Executive Committee of the Regional Development Council XI endorsed the programs and projects proposed by 30 regional line agencies and state universities and colleges for implementation in the region next year. These proposals amount to more than P15 billion, with infrastructure projects covering the biggest chunk reaching a total investment cost of more than P11 billion pesos. This was bared by RDC XI Vice-Chair and NEDA XI Regional Director Nicasio Angelo J. Agustin after the ExCom’s meeting held Thursday, April 10, 2008, at Waterfront Insular Hotel.
The RDC XI Vice-Chair said that the proposed programs and projects are packaged as the 2009 Annual Investment Program (AIP) of Davao Region. He added that the proposals will be funded by the national government and/or foreign donors. He also explained that this investment list does not make up the agencies’ actual budget proposals but will be the main basis for the national agencies and SUCs in firming up the allocable portion of their respective budget proposals for 2009. The preparation and review of regional budget proposals for 2009 are expected to be undertaken anytime later this month and in May.
RDC XI Endorses to PGMA the P 1 B Improvement of the Padada-Kiblawan-Columbio Road
The Regional Development Council (RDC) XI has endorsed to Her Excellency Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo the immediate improvement/opening of the Padada-Kiblawan-Columbio Road that could provide a new link between Regions XI and XII during the Council’s meeting in Mati City, Davao Oriental on March 28, 2008. The endorsement also requested President Arroyo to allocate P 1 billion for the project according to RDC XI Vice-Chair and NEDA Regional Office XI Director Nicasio Angelo J. Agustin.
RDC XI Approves Key Infrastructure Projects Worth P 981 Million
The Regional Development Council (RDC) XI approved key irrigation systems for implementation in all Davao Region provinces and Davao City in 2008 to 2010 to support the agri-business thrust of the Mindanao Super Region during its first regular meeting for the year last March 28, 2008 in Mati City, Davao Oriental. This was revealed by RDC XI Vice-Chair and NEDA Regional Office XI Director Nicasio Angelo J. Agustin during an interview.
RDC XI Launches its Online Facility
The Regional Development Council (RDC) XI launched its Online Facility (www.rdc11.net) during this year’s first regular Council meeting, in Mati City, Davao Oriental last Friday, March 28, 2008. According to RDC XI Vice-Chair and NEDA Regional Director Nicasio Angelo J. Agustin, the facility is not only intended to inform the public about the role, functions and activities of the RDC being the highest policy making body of the region, but also will be very useful in responding to the calls of today’s demand of providing venue for the stakeholders of the RDC XI to interact with one another.
